Find a perfect place to buy a home in Amsterdam

It could be stressful to relocate to a new city without knowing the neighborhood. You might want to prepare even more when planning to relocate permanently and are considering purchasing a property. Here is our short guide with the essential information about the main districts in the capital of the Netherlands.

Amsterdam City

The neighborhood of Amsterdam center shows up in most of your searches in the Netherlands. The UNESCO world heritage canal belt, the red light district, and De Wallen with all the touristy buzz and historical buildings. Monumental property purchase and renovation costs can be much higher than in other areas. If you dream of living in a monument, this is your chance.

Amsterdam East

This area stretches from De Plantage to Eastern Docklands and is renowned for its diverse cultures. It is a well-liked family location since there are many parks, a zoo, and numerous schools. Numerous establishments, stores, and the renowned Dappermarkt provide food from various ethnic backgrounds.

Amsterdam West

The West district is on the other side of the Centrum. Vondelpark, Rembrandtpark, and Westerpark, three of the city's most famous and well-liked parks, are well-liked by young people and families. The Oud-West district is renowned for its excellent eateries, nightclubs, specialty shops, and the outstanding De Hallen food market.

Amsterdam Nieuw-West

Less crowded locations like the Sloterplas or Nieuwe meer lakes are the best option for those who enjoy outdoor activities. The new upcoming neighborhood is still under development, with lots of newly constructed homes at affordable costs. Even though a bit further from the city center, it offers a good connection with the metro and train station Lelylaan and is one of the affordable districts.

Amsterdam Noord

A quick ferry journey from Amsterdam Central Station will take you to another upcoming area. This neighborhood is well-liked by young professionals because of the repurposed docklands, incredible restaurants, and clubs. It is anticipated that families will also become more accustomed to it when more schools continue to open. With numerous recently constructed homes and still being reasonably close to the city center, Noord is a more inexpensive choice.

Amsterdam Zuid

Probably the most elegant and fancy out of the districts. In this part of the city, all the international schools and businesses have offices here. These characteristics make it an attractive place for young professionals starting their careers in Amsterdam and families. Starting from the Museum Quarter and De Pijp, you can be sure never to be bored here. Remember that the property prices will be higher than in the rest of the city.

Amsterdam Zuid Oost

The Johan Cruijff Arena, the home of the Dutch national football team Ajax, is the most well-known landmark in Zuid-Oost. The neighborhood, also known as Bijlmer, is less expensive than the rest of the city. Expect to cycle for about 30 minutes in addition to the connection via public transportation to Centrum. This neighborhood still has a higher crime rate than the other regions of Amsterdam, despite notable improvements.
